Saints, Pats & an Upset in Toronto?

The New Orleans Saints are officially the hottest team in the NFL and are now the Super Bowl favourites after they won their 10th straight game last week. The Saints, 10-1 straight up and 9-2 against the spread (ATS), are at +300 heading into Week 13, just ahead of the Los Angeles Rams at +333. From there the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots check in at +600, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers (+1200).

The Saints kick off this week on Thursday Night Football in Dallas against the Cowboys. Oddsmakers currently have New Orleans set as a 7.5-point favourite, but about 80 percent of the early action is on Dallas to cover that number. The Cowboys have won three in a row and sit in first place in the NFC East. Meanwhile, nearly 85 percent of bettors like this one to finish under the lofty 53 point total despite the fact that the Saints 37.2 points per game and the Cowboys are coming off their best offensive performance since Week 6.

The bookies also have four double-digit point spreads on the board for this week. The Los Angeles Rams visit the Lions as 10-point favourites and the Seahawks are also -10 at home to the San Francisco 49ers. The Green Bay Packers are set at -14.5 against the visiting Cardinals and the Chiefs are fat 15-point favourites in Oakland. More than 80 percent of bettors like the Raiders to cover the spread at home and almost 90 percent of bets are on Detroit to cover against the Rams.

Possibly the biggest matchup of the week goes down in Foxboro as the Patriots host the Minnesota Vikings as 5.5-point favourites. The Pats are 5-0 straight up and against the spread at home this season, but the early money is on Minnesota to cover.

The Golden State Warriors showed they weren’t invincible when Steph Curry and Draymond Green hit the shelf and ended up losing five of six games. Since then they’ve rattled off three consecutive wins heading into Thursday’s showdown with the Toronto Raptors. Green won’t play in that game, but Curry is currently listed as questionable. Golden State is holding as a -182 favourite to win another NBA championship, but the Raptors are next up on the odds board at +750. Toronto holds the best record in the Association at 18-4 (12-10 ATS) while the Warriors check in at 15-7 (9-13 ATS).
